From July 27-August 2, 2016, I went to a 5-day intensive, personal development seminar called Journey, which focused on the mind, body, and spirit. It was amazing! This was my second time doing the course, but this year I came away with an even deeper knowledge of myself. Learning to be a good listener was the main theme of the seminar, because it is the most important skill for both sales and personal relationships. In order to better focus, we abstained from our vices for those five days. By avoiding what tempts us, we were able to keep our minds clear and have no distractions from the deep reflection we were engaged in. We were in session for four or eight-hour sessions, which allowed for a good balance of work and play.
We had time to run on the beach every day. One day we kayaked and snorkeled, where we saw a few turtles.
Another day, we took the 2-hour (50-something mile) drive up Mount Haleakala, which the locals said that it was the shortest road in the world that goes from sea level to 10,000 feet. It’s a dormant volcano, but the coolest part about the drive was watching the landscape change. It started out as tropical paradise, became lush with evergreen trees, and then turned entirely into rocks and dirt. It looked as if we’d arrived on a different planet.
One evening we went to a luau, where the performers pulled Shequita and I up on stage to dance in a contest. Here’s a video if you want to see us shake it Old Spice Life Style.
