We took an awesome DreamTrip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, January 19-24. We stayed at the Wort Hotel, one of the oldest historical hotels. It’s a Four-Diamond boutique hotel with a log-cabin feel. Check out the grand staircase that greets you when you first walk in!
Like most DreamTrips, it was hosted and included activities (click here to see what it included), but we chose to forgo all that and just snowboard and do our own thing. While DreamTrips provide the opportunity to socialize with other DreamTrippers and enjoy the scheduled activities, you’re never obligated to do either.
My girlfriend, Shequita Bennett and I chose to snowboard for four days. Looking back on it now, that was a little too ambitious, because my legs were DYING!! Each day we took the complimentary hotel shuttle to the mountain. On the third day we took a tram to the top of Jackson Hole — close to 11,000 feet — and enjoyed some waffles for lunch. To get back down we had two options: take the tram or snowboard the Rendezvous Bowl, one of the steepest bowls in North America. Even though this was my girlfriend’s sixth day of snowboarding ever, we hit the bowl. (I have to admit this won her some major points with me. 😉 ) The fourth day we only did a half-day and then hung out at the bar the rest of the time.
Don’t worry, we got our bar time in the rest of the trip too. 🙂 The first night we went to a place called Cowboy Bar, where the bar stools have saddles for seats. Also, every afternoon after the mountain, we went to the Mangy Moose, where there’s an actual full-body stuffed moose hanging in a sled-type thing!
Pastor Jonathon Sansom concluded our trip (Melanie Levitz‘s included) by giving an amazing sermon on Sunday evening.
