I just got back from my first-ever trip to Sydney, Australia. If you read my earlier blog, you’ll see the original motivation for the trip was to use enough miles to keep my Gold Status with United Airlines, but it was a great 6-day vacation.
At the Taronga Zoo, we met the (sleeping) koalas. We did a bunch of site-seeing, visiting St. Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney Tower, and Sydney Harbor Bridge, where we attended a wine festival at the base of the bridge in the rocks .
Discovering the little differences between countries is a fun part of traveling. For example, you can order at a kiosk at McDonald’s and when you pick up your burger it tastes like backyard BBQ because it’s actually all natural beef. And it’s the same price as in the US! I also tried kangaroo, which tasted like venison.
I went on this trip with Jed Smeenk . Thank you to An Nguyen, for putting us up in such a nice place.
We networked with a few Australians, but it ended up to be more a fun trip, where lots of people called me “Bloke.” 🙂
